The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) | Amazon
The Four Agreements is a very popular book. It’s full of wisdom to help us in our everyday interactions. The author focuses on the “Four Agreements” that we should all make in our lives. Many key areas are highlighted that will help us to have better relationships. Many enlightening gems are found throughout this book. One topic discussed is how we are all searching for things that are already inside of us. We spend so much of our lives making agreements on how we will live that are unhealthy and unproductive to living a satisfying life. We make agreements to live our lives based on the opinion and beliefs of others.
This book touches on many subjects that are key to our conditioning as human beings. We are born with a dream which is ruled by fear. Over time we are “domesticated” to fit into the ideas of teachers, friends, family, and society's idea of who we should be. At a point, we become so used to this domestication that we apply it to our lives. The author also highlights a very important point that can be applied to every area of life. If you break an agreement, if you mess up, if you don’t stick to your goals, if you make the wrong decision, it is okay. You pick yourself back up and start fresh the next day. The author does a fantastic job of emphasizing the fact that we won’t always do everything right. We have to be kind to ourselves and begin again the next day. The principles found in the Four Agreements can be applied to every aspect of your life. The Four Agreements will help you grow in all your relationships, whether work, friends, or family. I highly recommend reading this book.
